HAAG-STREIT UK / PROCYON PRESS RELEASE: ESCRS September 2006 Haag-Streit UK / Clement Clarke International and Procyon Instruments are delighted to announce their new partnership for the manufacture and distribution of the new Procyon P3000 USB binocular pupillometers for Refractive Surgery and associated fields. The new P3000 USB system will be manufactured at the Clement-Clarke facility in Harlow, UK and distribution will be carried out via the Haag-Streit UK global network along with some independent distributors, such as Eyesys in the USA. Along with leaders such as Dr Stephen Slade, Dr. Steven Dell, Professor Dan Reinstein, Mr Emanuel Rosen and many others, Haag Streit UK shares Procyon's view that accurate binocular pupillometry, under controlled illumination and accommodation is essential prior to all laser refractive surgery. Dr Slade said in a recent interview that accurate, repeatable, objective binocular pupil measurement under controlled natural visual conditions is extremely important in clearly establishing the patient's expectations, whatever the treatment, whether it be wavefront guided LASIK, PRK or phakic IOLs. Dr. Slade stated that only the Procyon pupillometers offer this.
The latest addition to the product family is the new Procyon P3000 USB with the following features:
- Use your own computer! USB 2.0 computer interface: compatible with most Microsoft Windows XP personal computers;
- New completely automated illumination control;
- Improved patient set-up and patient comfort - easier to position with full occlusion of ambient conditions; - New elliptical pupil size estimation and ablation zone overlay;
- New PupilFit USB software - faster to operate.
